Getting a job in the USA

Getting a job in the USA

With the American Dream, everyone thinks getting a job in the US is a piece of cake. Well, it may be for some people but for foreigners it is a tussle. Talking from experience, many foreigners in the US have almost eaten from the dustbins, they have had to do casual jobs to survive and no one is willing to give them a job.

This article is dedicated to answer the question: is it difficult to find work for foreign people in the US?

The simple answer to this question is a resounding bold YES. You will need more than sheer luck to get a job in the US if you are a foreigner.

Why is it so difficult to get a job for foreigners in the US?

First, not all Americans are employed. The country is still struggling with her fair share of unemployment. So for whatever jobs that come out, American nationals are in the forefront. It does not matter how qualified you are; you just have to come second after the real Americans.

Secondly, you have to find a company willing to sponsor your visa (H-1B). Finding a company willing to vouch for your visa will not come easily. They will have the impression that you are not a national; why go the extra step to sponsor you? Without such goodwill, getting work will be almost an impossible achievement.

Another difficult is that if you do not find a job soon, you are supposed to pack bags and head back home. This kind of pressure is even worse than the job search. It is like everything is against you and it all boils down to the challenges of getting a job as a foreigner.

Conclusion

Before you start packing your bags ready for a flight to the US, please consider your chances for a job. It may be wise to look for a job at your home country. However, if you must go to the US, now you have a heads up on what to expect.
